About Tucson Fibromyalgia Support Group

Fibromyalgia is a disease that can be difficult to diagnose. The symptoms include soft tissue or muscle pain, disruptive sleep, fatigue and malaise. There are no real diagnostic tests to determine if an individual has fibromyalgia. It is diagnosed often by ruling out other conditions and by examining for the characteristic tender points, 18 have been identified.

Researchers have discovered several characteristics of individuals who have fibromyalgia. There exists more substance P which is a substance that is found to transport the pain message. So it has been described by those with the condition as if the volume is up and it can't be turned down. The signal is being translated at a higher level than would be received if the level of substance P were at a more normal rate. What results is the body is responding to a message of pain and it causes your body to react with various conditions that make it hard to feel rested to get the sleep you need and to experience relaxed body muscles and tissue.

However, with the help of medications, natural supplements, exercise and regulation of your routine, you can significantly improve your body's condition and response. Psychological outlook can be key to how well you do. Becoming a part of a support group can be so helpful in creating a positive outlook on managing your pain and it is the objective of TFSG to be just that, the positive outlook and support you need to more effectively control and manage your chronic pain.

If you or someone whom you care about has fibromyalgia and really you want to find ways to improve how well you feel each day, take the time to attend our meetings. You will certainly be glad that you did.

We will be affiliating with the National Fibromyalgia Association and the Southwest Pain Foundation, as well as many other supportive organizations. We look forward to meeting you. Our meetings will feature presentations from those who are dedicated to providing real healing and alleviation of fibromyalgia. Because of the long list of symptoms and coexisting conditions that can be found among those who live with fibromyalgia, there will be a broad spectrum of venues for personal improvement.

The Support Group expects each individual to investigate the treatment options for fibromyalgia and work out their treatment plan with their health care providers. We will strive to provide the leading edge research, treatment and medical knowledge on fibromyalgia and other conditions that affect those with fibromyalgia.

First and foremost the Tucson Fibromyalgia Support Group strives to provide you with an opportunity to connect with others sharing the same experiences, learn about therapeutic habits that improve your life in the moment, support continued research for the treatment and cure of fibromyalgia, continue to develop support in other affected areas of your life with information and resources.
